After years of personal and professional experience, Tate founded Tate Smith Consulting in 2023 to provide businesses with policies and specialist advice on diversity, equity and inclusion from a trans+ perspective.

Shining light on the unsaid

Passionate about intersectionality, Tate’s ‘Fireside Chats’ have become an essential educational tool for numerous corporations. Tate speaks candidly about his experiences as a “working-class Essex boy who just so happens to be trans,” while also raising awareness on key topics such as toxic masculinity, male privilege, men's mental health, and menopause.

Tate’s expertise includes social mobility, transitioning in the workplace, inclusive language, gender equality, allyship, and rethinking masculinities.

Driving Social Change

  • Admired for his glass-half-full approach to campaigning, Tate is a leading advocate for trans+ people and equality worldwide. Whether volunteering with UN Women UK as a CSW Delegate, creating educational social content, or having his story displayed in the Science Museum, Tate uses his platform to drive change and create vital representation for trans+ people.

  • Choosing to share his lived experiences over rigid training, Tate engages international audiences with an open approach that sheds light on the realities of living as a trans person and tackles taboo topics to spark vital conversations. From luxury hospitality to conferences and household brands, Tate's voice knows no bounds.

  • Tate has supported major corporations like Clifford Chance and Anglo American in developing transgender policies, including the inclusion of top surgery in private healthcare insurance. Regardless of company size, Tate aims to create safe work environments for trans+ people and extends his expertise to healthcare, as shown through his advisory contributions to the NHS-approved OBS UK Study.
